Soooo, we have been trying like crazy to get rid of the stinkin' "ni-ni" That is our universal term for the pacifier. Lily is super attached to this thing, especially since giving up chi chi several weeks ago. Well, we are limited to laying down, no tv, no noise, and in the car on trips longer than 20 minutes. Well, yesterday, we went all day without the stinkin' thing, including a car ride to the next town over. We then fell asleep last night and went all night long until 7:45 this morning. She woke up begging for chi chi. I mean, pulling at my shirt, grabbing, tugging, pleading for chi chi. She latched on for about 1.2 seconds and (through her sleep, closed eyes and all) said "I am too big for chi chi mama, but chi chi is still my friend" Talk about getting all teary eyed. I have never said she was too big for chi chi, she quit all on her own. Many might believe she is too old, but eh, she is done and she weaned herself. I got up to find a stinkin ni-ni because she started asking for chi chi again and I wasn't going to go through that again. What am I going to do to get rid of this thing? For the first 3 months of her life she never even took a darn pacifier, she just used me and that is why we started using one. AGH! That certainly bit me in the butt and she still nursed for over 2.5 years.

It can seem to be an unending cycle.
Mira quit nursing in mid-January. She had given up pacifiers before that.
About 2 months after she had weaned she asked for mommy milk. I told her I didn't think there was any milk left, but if she wanted to check she could. She did, and announced that it was all gone. She hasn't asked again since then, but whenever she sees me changing or whatnot, she announces, "I drank the milk all gone, no more Mommy milk."
Well, then we started babysitting for my friend's 4 month old, a fervent paci-addict. Mira started asking for hers again. THEN all the lost pacifiers we hadn't been able to find months ago started turning up. I've been giving it to her only at night, only after reading bedtime stories (and always hoping she'll fall asleep first and not ask for it).
I'm worried she will want to nurse when the baby is born and there IS mommy milk again. I have several more months (or 4- 4.5 anyway).
